The Cougars faced the Colonials in their first game of the Hayfield Tournament.  The Cougars were up first; though Emily Krisanda and Alison Davis singled, TJ forced Oakton to leave the bases loaded at the end of the first inning.  TJ pitcher, junior Helen Hastings, settled in and held the Cougars hitless in the 2^nd and 3^rd.  In the fourth inning, Mandy Krage started Oakton off with a single, and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Hayley French.  Becky Cerva singled and advanced to 2^nd on a fielder’s choice.  With runners on 2^nd and 3^rd, Kelsea Sinnet’s RBI scored Krage, putting Oakton on the scoreboard.  An RBI by Megan Geshan plated Cerva to bring the score to 2-0. 

In the 5^th, leadoff Emily Corridon doubled on a line drive to center field.  Allison Davis’ RBI plated Corridon, bringing the lead to 3-0.  In the 6^th, Kelsea Sinnett hit a towering home run over the left field fence to give the Cougars a 4 run lead.  Even with singles by Corridon and Davis in the 7^th, the Cougars could not score additional runs. 

Defensively, Oakton Pitcher Allison Davis struck out 10 of 26 batters in the 7-inning shutout game.
