OAKTON SHUTS OUT SOUTH COUNTY SECONDARY

Game Date
Apr 25, 2011
Score
COUGARS: 11
SOUTH COUNTY SECONDARY: 0

Oakton played their third of five games in the Hayfield Tournament, shutting out the South County Stallions in the six inning game.

In the first, Emily Krisanda reached on error, stole her way around the bases, and slid home on a passed ball to put the Cougars on the score board.

Oakton could not get on base in the second, but went through the batting order and a change of Stallion pitchers in the third, racking up 8 additional runs for a 9-0 lead.  The Cougars were fast on their feet, taking advantage of passed balls and other Stallions’ fielding errors to put themselves in scoring position for the Cougar rally.

Oakton could not cross the plate in the fourth or fifth.  In the sixth Krisanda singled, Allison Davis tripled (RBI), and Mandy Krage singled (RBI) to bring the score to 11-0.

Other hits in the game were singles by Emily Corridon, Emily Krisanda, Allison Davis (RBI), Mandy Krage (RBI), and Becky Cerva.  RBI’s credited to Hayley French, Megan Geshan, Michelle Doran (2), and Emily Corridon.  Angie Noviello came home on a passed ball.

Defensively, the Cougars were led by pitcher Allison Davis, who saw 25 batters, and struck out 13 in 6 innings.  Davis struck out the side in the fourth, and in the third with 2 outs and bases loaded, she struck out the 6th batter.  Davis gave the Stallions very few hitting opportunities; and great catches were made in the outfield by Megan Geshan, Emily Corridon, and Angie Noviello.
