Oakton fought a tough home game against cross-town rival Chantilly.

Three Cougar batters reached on walks in the first inning to load the bases, putting themselves in scoring position.  Following a pitcher change, the Cougars could not muster the hits to score, and the three runners were stranded.  Additional scoring opportunities were rare, and with exceptional fielding by the Chargers, Oakton was not able to cross the plate.  Cougar hitters:  Singles by Kelsea Sinnett, Angie Noviello, and Mandy Krage (2).  Though several Cougar batters made contact, Chantilly’s defense was alert, on target, and produced only one error.        

With adept pitcher Allison Davis still recovering from an injury, the Cougar defense had its work cut out for them.  Becky Cerva pitched through part of the 6^th, and was relieved by closer Hayley French.  Jory Yates, Emily Corrion, and Mary Kate Mehegan made some great catches in the outfield.  Unfortunately the Chargers managed to hit to and through the infield (some on error), putting their runners into scoring position.  Chantilly capitalized on this, and managed to get 3 runs with only small and single hits.

The Cougars face the #3 ranked Bobcats at Battlefield on Wednesday at 6:30, and then travel to Robinson on Friday at 6:30.  Hope to see you there!
