Oakton’s team traveled to Battlefield High School to face #3 ranked Bobcats.

Offensively, Oakton didn’t have much success with their bats this evening.  Emily Krisanda reached on error in the first inning, but there were no scoring opportunities.  The Cougars could not get on base in the second and third innings.  In the fourth, Mandy Krage and Haley French got on with walks, and Becky Cerva doubled, plating Krage and French.  This would be the only hit and runs for the Cougars, as no one got on base in the fifth and final inning.

Pitcher Allison Davis was still sidelined with an injury; and freshman Alana Peters came up from JV and pitched the entire game.  The Bobcats were seasoned sluggers, with the first 5 in the order hitting 3 singles and 2 smashes to right field which became triples.  Though the last three batters made contact, the Cougars fielded the outs and limited the runs to 5.  Battlefield notched an additional run in the second and third innings, bringing the score to 7-0 at the bottom of the third.  In the fourth, the Bobcats rallied to get 6 players on base, with several taking additional bases on Cougar fielding errors.  Battlefield scored an additional 5 runs to end the game at 12-2. 

Mary Kate Mehegan was busy and snagged 4 in left field.  Peters saw 26 batters, and struck out 2.
