Cougar leadoff, Emily Corridon, started the game with a single, and put herself in scoring position by taking second on a passed ball.  Allison Davis’ ground-rule double over-the-fence plated Corridon to put Oakton on the scoreboard.

In the third inning, Corridon and Emily Krisanda singled.  With runners advancing on passed balls, the Cougars were in position to score.  Davis’ single RBI plated Corridon, and Davis took second.  Mandy Krage’s SAC fly plated Krisanda, bringing the score to 3-0.  The inning was interrupted by a weather delay, and after about an hour, the game resumed.

In the seventh, Angie Noviello smashed one to deep right for an inside-the-park homer adding the final run of the game, Cougars 4, Patriots 0.

Other hits:  2 singles by Corridon who went four-for-four at the plate, single by Krisanda, and SAC bunt by Becky Cerva.

Allison Davis was brilliant in the circle, going the seven shutout innings against Yorktown.  Davis saw 25 batters, and struck out 15 (7 in a row between the second and fourth innings).   Davis retired all three batters in the first, third, sixth, and seventh innings.

Oakton resumes the Regional Tournament on Monday, May 30 (against the winner of Stone Bridge vs. West Potomac) at Falls Church High School at 11 am.  Come and cheer for the Lady Cougars as they advance to the second round of Regional Play!
