Centreville at Oakton

Oakton came from behind to top Centreville 3-2 at home.

Centreville scored a run in the first inning after their second batter reached base on balls; the following batter hit a double to take a 1-0 lead.

Oakton responded in the bottom of the first inning after Becky Cerva, the lead off-batter, hit a single. Cerva ended up on third after a Mary Kate Mehegan bunt. Emily Krisanda stroked a single, driving in Cerva to tie the game 1-1.

Centreville took the lead again in the third inning with three consecutive singles, leading to a two out rally and scoring one run to take a 2- 1 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth inning the Cougars tied the score again after Emily Krisanda reached base on a walk, then Marleigh Hall followed with a single. Megan Geshan hit a ground ball and was thrown out at first base but Krisanda managed to score from third base and tie the game 2-2.

In the bottom of the sixth inning Marleigh Hall started a rally with a single but was thrown out stealing second base. Alana Peters followed with a double to right field but a throwing error from outfield gave Peters time to round third base and score at home for the winning run as Oakton held off the Wildcats in the seventh inning.

Oakton had eight hits in the game led by Mary Kate Mehegan and Marleigh Hall with two hits each.

Allison Davis pitched for Oakton striking out nine batters, three walks and giving up four hits.

Oakton’s record is 7-7.
