Oakton at Westfield

Oakton traveled to Westfield for their final conference game of the season and walked away with a with a 4-1 victory that was cut short by lightning.

Oakton struck first with two runs in the top of the third inning when Jaime Arbesfeld and Mary Kate Mehegan both singled, setting the stage for Allison Davis to hit a double that drove in Arbesfeld and Mehegan for a 2-0 lead.

Westfield scored in the bottom of the fifth inning with two runners on base after a single was hit and a player was hit by a pitch, a Bulldog then followed with another single that drove in a run. Allison Davis then struck out the next two batters, which stranded two Bulldogs on base and left the score 2-1.

In the sixth inning Alana Peters led off with a walk and then scored when Emily Stangeby stroked a double to right field and increased the Cougar lead to 3-1.

Emily Krisanda led off the top of the seventh inning with a double and scored after Marleigh Hall followed with a single for a 4-1 lead.

Westfield would not bat in the bottom of the seventh inning as the game was delayed due to weather and was eventually called off.

The Cougars had eleven hits in the game led by Allison Davis with three hits and Emily Krisanda and Mary Kate Mehegan each which two hits.

Allison Davis pitched for Oakton and had twelve strike-outs, no walks, and allowed three hits.

Oakton’s record improved to 8-7.
