West Springfield at Oakton

Oakton topped West Springfield 10-0 in a Regional first round game.

Oakton dominated from the start. Becky Cerva started the first inning with a double and scored off of multiple passed balls. Mary Kate Mehegan was then walked and scored following a double by Allison Davis. Emily Krisanda hit into a fielder’s choice that scored Davis; Krisanda eventually scored by stealing home. The first inning ended with a 4-0 lead.

Oakton continued with a two out rally again in the second inning, starting with a Mehegan single followed by another single by Davis that scored Mehegan. Krisanda then stroked a single that drove in Davis and, once again, Krisanda ended up stealing home on a passed ball to increase the lead to 7-0.

In the fourth inning Oakton struck for three more runs. Allison Davis hit a single and scored, then Krisanda followed with a double. Marleigh Hall was hit by a pitch and was joined on base by Alana Peters who was walked. Megan Geshan then hit a single that drove in Krisanda. Hall scored on a passed ball for the final run of the inning to increase the score to 10-0. The game was called off after West Springfield failed to score in the fifth inning.

Allison Davis struck out eleven batters in five innings and allowed only one hit and no walks.

Oakton had nine hits led by Allison Davis with three hits and Emily Krisanda with two hits. They combined for six of Oakton’s runs.

Oakton improved to 11-7.
