OAKTON DEFEATS CENTREVILLE TO IMPROVE DISTRICT RECORD
Centreville scored 2 unearned runs in the first inning due to fielding errors. In the sixth, and the top of the Wildcat order, a single, followed by a double RBI added Centreville’s third and final run to the scoreboard. Ace pitcher, sophomore Allison Davis, saw 28 batters, struck out 8, and walked one in 7 innings.
Cougar lead-off senior center fielder Emily Corridon started the game’s offense with a single to center, and moved to 2nd on sophomore second baseman Becky Cerva’s SAC. Then
The rally continued into the second inning with senior third baseman Hayley French and senior left fielder Angie Noviello reaching on walks. Sophomore designated player Alana Peters advanced them with a SAC bunt. French scored on a passed ball, and Noviello was plated by Corridon’s RBI triple. (4)
In the third scoring inning, Davis and Krisanda walked. Senior catcher Mandy Krage’s 2RBI double drove them in. Following a walk by French, and a 2RBI double by Noviello, freshman relief pitcher Gretchen Kernbach came in. Junior right fielder Mary Kate Mehegan singled, and Corridon’s RBI single plated Noviello. (9)
Centreville’s Kernbach saw all 15 Cougar players at the plate in their 6 innings at bat.
Additional hits: single by sophomore designated player Marleigh Hall.
