SHUTOUT WIN ADVANCES COUGARS TO SEMI-FINALS IN NORTHERN REGION TOURNAMENT

Sophomore pitcher Allison Davis’ threw her 6^th shutout in 18 consecutive complete games this season/post-season.  She struck out 11 of the 26 batters she saw in 7 innings, walked one, and allowed two hits.

In the first, lead-off senior center fielder Emily Corridon singled, and advanced on sophomore second baseman Becky Cerva’s SAC.  With two outs, junior short stop Emily Krisanda reached on a dropped pop to right field and scored Corridon (1-0).  The rally continued in the second with a walk by sophomore designated player Alana Peters.  Senior left fielder Angie Noviello reached on error and both runners advanced on a misplayed ball.  Then, junior right fielder Mary Kate Mehegan’s single scored Peters (2-0).  After a scoreless third inning, the Cougars rallied again in the fourth.  Peters and Mehegan walked.  With 2 outs and 2 runners on, the Cougars proved (once again) they perform under pressure.  Cerva’s single scored Peters.  Davis’ double to left field plated Mehegan and Cerva.  Finally, Krisanda added a double to score Davis (6-0).
