COUGARS SHUTOUT STALLIONS AND ADVANCE TO REGIONAL FINALS
Even through some intense moments, Oakton's defense held South County scoreless. In the third, with 2 singles and a walk, the Stallions loaded the bases. On two outs, senior catcher Mandy Krage caught the straight-up foul pop about 6 inches from the fence along the right field foul line to end the inning.
In the three-hitter shutout she pitched, sophomore Allison Davis fanned the side in the 2nd and 7th innings and retired the side in the 4th and 8th innings. She struck out 16 and walked 2 of 30 batters in 8 innings.
Offensively, the Lady Cougars were not making the needed connections to get on base. The scoring rally in the 8th started with lead-off senior center fielder Emily Corridon beating her bunt to base. She advanced on sophomore second baseman Becky Cerva’s SAC, and then
