Wildcats Paw the Cougars
The Oakton Cougars lost a close game to the Centreville Wildcats by the score of 3-1.
The lone Oakton run came after center fielder Emily Kamienski reached on a Wildcat error, advanced to second base on a passed ball, and was driven in when pitcher Taylor Fay hit a single to right field. DP Brittany Thompson, left fielder Danni Nichols, right fielder Linda Lyons, and second baseman Georgia Brandt also contributed singles throughout the game, but the Cougars just could not generate any runs from those hits and a few walks. The Cougars left nine runners stranded on base over the course of the game.
Oakton played very well on defense, making only one error and holding Centreville to only three runs (one unearned).
