Wildcats Outplay the Cougars

The Oakton Cougars visited the Centreville Wildcats and were handed a 10-0 loss.  The game ended after five innings due to the run rule.

Centreville played a very good game both on offense and defense, gathering seven hits over five innings and committing zero errors.

The Oakton bats simply could not get any traction against Centreville’s pitching throughout the night.  The Cougars only threatened to score once during the game.  In the first inning, third baseman Cassie Brazinsky got onboard the bases with a single to left field.  Left fielder Nicole Berube followed with a fielder’s choice to the Wildcat second baseman, who put Brazinsky out, leaving Berube on first base with two outs.  Shortstop Caroline Brogan followed with a double to center field that moved Berube to third base.  Unfortunately, the two Cougars were left stranded on the bases when the next batter grounded out.  The only other Cougar hit came in the fourth inning when Brogan hit a single up the middle.

The Cougs had a mediocre night on defense.  They committing two errors and gave up four unearned runs. 

With this loss to the Wildcats, Oakton’s conference record drops to 1 win, 1 loss, and their overall record becomes 4 wins, 6 losses.
