Oakton Cougar varsity field hockey, now referred to as the "heart attack kids" lost to Woodson 9/2 as they entered their fourth overtime game already this early in the season.  While Woodson charged out early, strong defense by Mira Tanenbaum, Kelsey Weathers, Danielle Somadelis and Rachel Kuykendall held the Cavaliers scoreless.  Tenacious midfield play by Erika Kaufhold, Adelle Clinton, Amanda Bailey and Maddie Ray seemed to turn the tide towards Oakton as the first half wore down.  A clanging but missed Cougar penalty stroke left the game scoreless at the half.  Early in the second half, a Cougar corner (too high) was called back.  Cavaliers capitalized with a goal, but the Cougars answered back with end of regulation ending 1-1.  Going into overtime, the Cougars were well positioned to continue challenging Woodson, until the 7 minute switchover led to a quick score by the opponent.  Overtime/final score was Woodson 2, Oakton 1.
